I’ve been obsessed with The Maine forever, but one of their songs hasnt stopped playing on my Ipod, the fabulous Inside of You.

The band just rerecorded it for the Daytrotter Session EP and posted it on their Twitter…

I am back from my much needed vacations- I feel relaxed, but coming back for school and work was so hard! I almost stowed away on one of the boats I was on… but that wouldn’t have ended well.

So I’ve realized we’ve never spoken about good, old fashioned classic rock/metal/super/folk/great bands/artists that predate most of the music you all listen to today… so lets go over a few of the greats, and some of their biggest hits that everyone should put on their lists.

1. Def Leppard
I cannot say how much I love Def Leppard. I love all the bands on this list, but they have to be one of my all time favorite bands ever. Their entire HYSTERIA album is pure genius and one of the most amazing records ever created.
What you should check out: The HYSTERIA album. Pure rock meets radio sing-a-long-ability love.

2. Billy Joel
Like Def Leppard, I have a soft spot for all things Billy Joel. Every single song he released is a brilliant piece of music. He is a spectacular writer, player, composer, gosh, the man is just superbly talented.
What you should check out: You’ve never heard Scenes from an Italian Restaurant? Where the hell have you been all these years!?

3. R.E.M.
In my opinion, one of the first real Indie rock bands. Freakishly talented and all their lyrics can haunt you. 
What you should check out: Losing my Religion. That could be YOU in the corner.

4. Guns N’ Roses
No explanation needed.
What you should check out: Everything they released, ever (and watch the music video for November Rain. My moms best friend wanted to wear the wedding dress from that video in her wedding…luckily, she didnt get married.)

5. The Beatles
How could they not be on this list? The band that gave us two musical greats- John Lennon and Paul McCartney HAS to be on this list. The quinisential band of the century. Absoultley amazing and trumps everyone, every time.
What you should check out: Yellow Submarine, Here comes the Sun, She loves you (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah), Hard days Night… God, the list goes on. Download everything. Listen to them all. Feel the love.

Sa and I had the pleasure of meeting Swing the Coast at the Rock Yourself to Sleep Tour. They are amazing guys, and were a ton of fun to talk to and hang out with, we adore them, so vote for them please :)

So Sara and I went to Warped Tour this year for the first time.. and needless to say we left about an hour or two into the festival. Lets start off with the pros:

1. Convienant location to Saras house.
2. Cool merch tents/merch people/bands who arent preforming just hanging out (I got a CD from an amazing band I met there who weren’t preforming, I will write about them soon, cool dudes as well.)
3. Awesome merch (even for bands who werent there!)
4. A Rocket to the Moon giving a small, acoustic preformance for free (love love love ARTTM) 

Now lets list the cons..

1. It was literally 103 degrees there.
2. I was sick.
3. It was so chaotic and unorganized that we couldn’t 
     A. Find the stages we needed
     B. Find the exit
     C. Figure out what was going on
4. All the bands we wanted to see were preforming much later then when we got there (hell, we got the VIP pass to get in half an hour early..waste!)
5. The only bands we actually got to see were screamo bands that scared the crap out of us.. and the Pretty Reckless, which has actress turned slut singer, Taylor Momsen. (People actually walked away when she got on, I have video to prove it.) Although she has one good song, she didnt play it. And she didn’t wear real clothes. Sa was shocked when she found out they were about the same age.
6. Alesana (one of the scary bands) scared me. But hey, they have such dedicated fans, it was a nice sight. 
7. Did I mention it was 103 degrees?

Water was six bucks, and they wouldnt give you the cap (how swindelous!) so that was gone quick. We sat for two bands that weren’t fantastic, bought a map (another two bucks for a piece of paper that was half faded) Alesana and The Pretty Reckless (how many times can one 16 year old girl say the F word!?) and then finally found the othere tents and stages. So we wandered around the tents, bought some cool merch. The band that gave me their kick ass CD (The Sunstreak) had a cool booth, the whole band was there and they were really sweet. I got a cool shirt for my mom at their booth that says “Streakers Do it with the Lights On.” We both found it amusing, as did she. Needless to say we split before Hey Monday went on (which Sa wanted to see bad, but we couldn’t take it anymore!) and it was hours before the bands we liked went on… We called and got picked up (half an hour later, standing outside in the sun was brutal)

So all in all, we had a not so nice Warped experience and we aren’t going to buy tickets next time.. I think we’ll stay inside.

I have to write about our Rock Yourself to Sleep Tour experience… THAT was PHENOMENAL!

Today, at work I heard some very disturbing things from co-workers of mine. One of my male best friends is gay, and they no that (he once trained for a job at my place), one of my other friends stopped by my job today when I finished all my tasks early, he hung out for two hours, well, he stood there and spoke to me as I worked with customers. After he left, my first co-worker, lets call him Bill, says to another co-worker of mine, lets call this one Jose, ”Did you know she has a gay best friend?” Jose looked disgusted and Bill said “Jose is catholic, and I’m buddhist, we don’t like the gays. They are sickening out world and putting the natural order out of balance. Why didn’t you stop being friends with him when you found out?” When I replied “I don’t care, its his choice, and he is still my best friend. It’s not like he’s sick or anything, he just has a different lifestyle choice then you, and they do not put the “naturdal order” off balance.” Needless to say I can no longer look him in the eyes, how could such vile people call themselves religious? God created everyone and loves everybody, how could you hate so easily? Especially someone who calls themself a “buddhist” Thats sick, vile and ignorant. They have both let comments about my gay best friend fly before, usually along the lines of “Don’t let him come in here, I like my a** the way it is.” I let it slide, rolled my eyes and thought they were kidding, but the fact that tonight proved that they weren’t just made me feel ill. It’s not even the tip of the iceberg with them! I’ve heard so many racist comments. Bill, who is Sri Lankan, commented on the war between two different races of people in Sri Lanka, I believe he said “The (forgot the name of the group) belong there, the others are just parasites and need to go back to where they came from. Even here I can tell who is (other type of group whose name I also forgot), if you start a fight with them they run away then come back later when you arent expecting it with a knife, not us though. We are warriors, they are cowards.” I couldn’t speak the rest of the night. Supposedly my boss doesnt like Puerto Ricans because the guy that stole from him was Puerto Rican, his views rubbed off on Bill and one other co-worker I believe.. they were shocked when they found out my mother was jewish and said “You don’t look jewish, and you spend all of your money, you must have more catholic in you.” Thats ridiculous, and ignorant once again! I am appaled that I allow myself to keep the company of these people. I can’t quit my job (my boss is one of the nicest people I have ever met to all of us who work there, he treats us well, I can’t quit because he is simply misguided) but dealing with these people is difficult! I never understood people to be so uneducated in the actuality of the world. I am a straight female who is a melting pot of ethnicities and I have absolutley no problem with anyone with a different sexuality or race/religion/creed.  How ANYONE could be so single minded and blame their views on religion is beyond me. I get it, the Bible has a passage about it, but do you not remember that the Bible was written in a time where there was little to no knowledge about anything different from the norm? I am so sick of all the ignorant, racist, disgusting people in this world hating on other people because of things NOT OF THEIR CONTROL (race, sexuality, etc.) 

This issue affects everyone, we should stand up and embrace everyone who is different, because goodness knows NO ONE is normal or perfect. 

STOP HATE.

Now before I get into writing Sa and I’s disasterous first Warped Tour experience, I have to write about these “Punk goes Pop” albums.

I loved the “Punk goes Classic Rock” album, rock bands covering rock bands = good idea. Rock bands covering N’Sync = worst idea since… i dont know, commercialized Disney music? (The chart below is from Wikipedia)

I couldn’t even listen to more then a minute of each song, I only found one that I could sit through (Toxic- A static Lullaby).

Hey Fearless Records, I love most of your artists, and hey, you sell great merch, but lets not push the boundries, keep your artists doing what they are good at, rocking out. Don’t ruin some of the only good pop songs…please!

There is a 2nd album that I am equally as disturbed about. TFT doing ‘Icebox’ (not a pop song!) Lost Prophets covering Justin Timberlake? A 3rd is coming out soon… are you as scared as I am?

BTW: What are the Lost Prophets doing on a Ferleass Records album… I saw them on a list somewhere listed under these “Pop goes Punk” albums.. even if they werent on the album, covering a Justin Timberlake song (although they did it better) wasn’t a smart idea, the original music they play is 1000x better.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I havent even been at my own house for more then a week the past month! Went to an AMAZING concert a few nights ago, Rock Yourself to Sleep Tour. Was phenomenal, scoped out a few awesome bands, saw some old fav’s (tft and every avenue) met a bunch of cool people and bought a hell of a lot of merch! I’m driving down to Warped in a few days with Sa and I will post a nice large update full of pictures and videos I’ve compiled (and a list of the hot members of a few bands… I saw so many attractive men the other night!!!!) Music was amazing, and it brought a bunch of chill, interesting people together and it was a phenomenal experience!

Will write more later!

So I was literally just searching random things on Google (it is something I do often) and I found this bands MySpace (after a search for ”go to a radio shack” went mildly wront.. dont ask.) and I started searching them on YouTube. Everything I heard I loved (its like Every Avenue all over again! <3) So I automatically started searching for and downloading everything  (and sending a list of songs to Sa, I put a little bit of the list below)

They are exactly the type of band I love (like Every Avenue, my love along with these guys) the lyrics are amazing, the singer can actually sing AND the music is kick ass.

Okay, sorry, I don’t know how to say “So Sorry” in spanish, so I think I wrote thank you or something along those lines, but I am really sorry for not updating lately… its been, hectic, for lack of a better word. Me and Sa have an amazing musical summer coming up, we are heading to two concerts together (Rock Yourself to Sleep tour AND Warped Tour) and Sa is heading to a few concerts on her own next week (since we live far away.)

I attempted to go to that Hanson/Drake concert the other day (just to see Hanson, I don’t like rap, therefore I do not like Drake) but certain people (the ones throwing bottles, causing a scene, throwing flower pots, starting fires/fights, etc) ruined it for me. I’ve been waiting ELEVEN years to see Hanson live, and I finally get the opportunity (for free!) and it gets ruined because people can’t act like adults. Ugh. Got me angry. But at least I got Olive Garden out of it. Oh, how I love Olive Garden. My waiter was creepy though.. and wouldnt shut up, and I really wasnt in the mood to speak after my Hanson-upset.

Well, I’m rambling. I’ll post ASAP and have Sa write up something little about her shows.
